This is one of the blankets my wife made for E-24 L-5 of the FDNY.  She made a total of 14 for the guys, 7 for the Engine and 7 for the Ladder.  My wife and I go to New York often. We always eat in a restaurant called Chumley's  in the Village. It just so happens that some of the guys from E24 and L5 woks there as bartenders. We got to know a few of them, they are very nice guys.

This bar was a hangout for Capt. Drennen. He was a Capt. from L5.  Sadly he died in the Watts Street fire along with 2 other firefighters.  So as a tribute to him the owner of Chumley's  named a beer after him.

The men from E24 and L5 lost a total of 11 on 9-11-01. My wife wanted to do something for the guy's to let them know we all care, and you will not be forgotten. We came up with the idea of making blankets for the guy's bunks. She sewed for 2 weeks straight and in Oct. we delivered the Blankets to the guy's of E24 and L5.  The guy's were speechless when they received our gift.

My wife and I just returned from New York last week. While we were there we stopped by the fire house to say hello to the guy's. they took us up to their bunkroom and proudly showed us all the blankets on the beds. 7 in E24 bunkroom and 7 in L5 bunkroom.

The members from the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department saw the photo of the blankets and contacted me with an order for 20 bunk blankets. So now my wife is sewing away again.
